Added an alternate for strikethrough just in case we wanted it.
Clear formatting is quite hard to do. I didn't want to use an eraser because I wanted to represent what it actually does, which is remove text effects. Here are some ideas:

Also, I'd like to use the regular clipboard icon if it's just as effective, in order to keep the number of icons down.

That first list is 👍

I thought the A worked well, but this is slightly better. I think because it doesn't have a crossbar interfering with the strikethrough.

Yeah I think that would be fine.

Hmmm. Not sure what to do here. I went looking at what others do. MS Word uses an eraser and Google Docs has this:
I didn't realize meant remove formatting until now. I also don't spend a terrible amount of time removing formatting, so I'm not the best judge. According to this stat it has rather low usage.

I want to throw this in for indent for consideration:
Most use this icon because the icon I proposed in my first comment is usually reserved for aligning text in table cells. We don't have that issue, so we can use it for indention instead. But, if we like this new icon for indention better, then we can consider it.

I get its semantic, which is correct, but feels weird since intend is usually I associate with a left alignment and the left margin pushed, this seems roughly the opposite. No?
i.e. if the arrow was on the left side, and it was left aligned, would work for me. :)

Yea, I've seen both (arrow on the outside indent, arrow on the inside indent) and both seem to work if you don't think about it too much :). In iOS Pages, they use the one I posted above and I didn't have trouble understanding it. Material Design icons use the other approach:
But, I think we'll be able to use the simple arrow icons I posted in my first comment so this won't be an issue.

Ah yes. Count the above as a slight preference. :)
To be clear, what I meant with the above was:

@folletto Ah, gotcha, thanks for the clarification. Yea, I think that could work well.
@kellychoffman In the interest of time, and since it looks like the S will work better for strike, I think this will be fine for clear formatting:
The slash is consistent with our other icons (eye and link) and A
does not have any inherent meaning — B
would look like remove bold, and U
would look like remove underline.
T
could work, but thought it was weird that the T does not have any formatting on it:
An italicized T wouldn't quite work with the direction of the slash.
from gridicons.
I like the A idea.
What would be absolutely great is something that on the left of the diagonal line is bold and on the right it's regular. But that would be probably too hard to make visible in a small icon, so I think that the A above would work. :)
from gridicons.
I just realized that the A does not have any formatting either, so I suppose it doesn't matter as much if we decide to go with either A or T for clear formatting.

Ah sorry, I forgot to explain why A instead of T for me: A is more clearly a A, while the T the way it's cropped can look like just three lines crossing, so it's slightly harder to be perceived as a T. :)

My only concern with using the A+/ icon is that our current users won't know what it means. I don't think it says 'remove formatting' any more than the eraser does. At least the eraser is somewhat familiar.

Since it's not used very much, I'm going to go with the A + / for now.
