Have you tried following the example in the dynamic image test (e.g. using a 
manager
to add/update the cropper settings)

That seems to work as it did in the demo. But how can I reset the cropper from 
my 
own function updateImgLarge? Do I have to use the cropmanager?

No the crop manager is just an example of how to keep a reference to the 
cropper and
change the image, you can either use that and add your customisations or simply 
use
the ideas from it.
