Thanks for reporting this issue!
Can you help be debugging this issue? I'm unable to reproduce it by setting a 13min event. It probably has - like you stated - something to do with the events being add up.

Here, I copied a series of events that had this issue for me and added them to a new calendar: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=aGhhbnBnaDg4azcyNGIzdnB2bjA1anEzNGtAZ3JvdXAuY2FsZW5kYXIuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbQ
They're all named "Test" and take place in June/July 2017.
Also, I wouldn't suspect age to be a cause: in my initial post the one with 1798.98h were all within the last six months.
Interesting seeing the total vs the combined being a little different...
(51.25h vs ~51.24h)
It definitely wasn't as simple as a "13 minute" event... I just suspected (initially) that could be a cause given my tendency in some of my calendar events to be so specific with the times.
