Building JASP would need some R packages. archlinuxcn/repo#2231

jasp-desktop needs 482 dependencies in AUR.

I'll think about writing a script to automatically import them from AUR.

Added. But apparently I can't maintain such amount of packages.
So if you are using or interested in these packages.
Please the check their build logs at https://arch4edu.github.io/ and help maintaining these packages.

I think you would better say contribute to bioarchlinux, these packages are maintained by BioArchLinux and we fix the bug and push them to the AUR

petronny avatar petronny commented on May 24, 2024

Yeah, that will also work.
If you find a package is maintained by the BioArchLinuxBot on AUR, you can also contact the bioarchlinux group to fix it.

Also Iā€™m thinking about adding r support to aarch64.
Please comment here if you need it on aarch64.

As of now, the bioarchlinux group has no plans to do so unless there is a massive and unprecedented increase in ARM users. We are currently facing challenges such as insufficient computing resources and mirrors lack.

You may want to take a look at cactus which is the current build system for arch4edu.
It can use the 20 free x86_64 runners from GitHub Actions and can build 289 r packages in 160 minutes.

It currently lacks of documentation. But I can start to do that if you want to use it.

Thanks, but I don't think that GitHub action is continuous and reliable service and there is no huge need for ARM.
