I want to vehemently be against that.

Now do whatever you want. :)

Right now the project use the GWT two space tabs standard. To improve
readability we should use the Java four space tabs standard.

Now that the standard for line width is 120, there's no point to two space
tabs.

Ha ha :D Well if you have a good reason, we're not going to do it. I really think that this is an old standard that tagged along GWT and that is not useful right now.

Also, I'd prefer users to refactor functions to have less nested indentation in the same function than to have something that could really go out of hand and out of the 120 line width standard.

So, why not? :D

I like 2/2 spaces myself, but 4 is fine too. :)

The less the user has to change, the better it is for contributions :D

Would you want to refactor the whole project and pull? You'd get he credit is what I'm thinking :)
