Hey Justin, I was hoping to keep the first few examples concise. Does the "Data" section help at all?
from chartkick.
Yeah, it did. I found it a while later and just came back here to update. I'd start with the most basic example first though, when you're bringing in new things and run into problems you need to simplify first to troubleshoot.
Thanks for the prompt response!

Oh and for some reason I had to restart my rails dev server to get Rails to build even a simple pie chart. Worth adding to your walkthrough?
from chartkick.
I'll see what I can do to make it simpler. Just FYI, you'll need to restart your Rails server after installing any gem. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know your experience. I can see these slight changes being very helpful to other beginners.

Hey I would love to chime in on this. I've gotta say I'm just a bit confused too with the examples. Some of them work out of the box perfectly.
I particularly LOVE how this one looks.
<%= line_chart @goals.map{|goal|
{:name => goal.name, :data => goal.feats.group_by_week(:created_at).count }
} %>
But its a bit confusing because I can't seem to get it to work after changing the instance variables to what I have in my app. I've installed the groupdate gem but would love to know how to get the desired results that you have.
I apologize, I am a rails beginner. But is it possible to use this and single out 3 separate columns from one table and display them on the graph and show the name of the column?
