Sweet, thanks for the quick fix!
The same problem is present in mailkick. That error message points to this line: https://github.com/rails/rails/blob/master/activesupport/lib/active_support/message_verifier.rb#L70
If you need more details, I can create an issue in the mailkick repo.

Yeah thanks just needed to set the secret in the console and make sure we were using the new secrets.yml in our rails 4.1 projects (older project previously upgraded to newest rails).
