The way that the colors are initialized is through syntax highlighting, when you start a game, the scratch buffer should be set to the filetype gnugo
, which has a syntax file defined for it: syntax/gnugo.vim.
Could you start by checking out if the filetype is set up correctly? Try executing the command :echo &filetype
or :set filetype
and let me know what it outputs.
You can also try evaluating the syntax file manually. Try either runtime syntax/gnugo.vim
or :source <full path to file>
. It could be that for some reason the syntax
directory is not found. What plugin manager are you using to install plugins?
