Gadget2 galaxy evolution: Crashes for too many particles & moving center of mass about amuse HOT 5 CLOSED

about the drift in center of mass: this can happen for treecodes such as gadget2 since they are not guaranteed to conserve momentum - its difficult to say whether to drift here is unacceptable and or bigger than expected.it can be decreased by using smaller timesteps (parameter: timestep_accuracy_parameter)...I looking into the other issue...

if I generate the galaxy with:

galaxy1=new_plummer_model(8000000, converter)

it runs here..can you check wether the 3.5e6 particle galaxy looks ok?

dynamics = Gadget2(converter,number_of_workers=23, redirection="none")

this may give some hints..

for me, GalactICs generates nan z positions for large N, YMMV, this could cause problems
(although for me it doesn't generate the same gadget error)
