I moved the memory leak portion problem to its own issue.
If you could append any additional information on that particular issue I'd be helpful in reproducing and tracking the problem.

This may be related to issue #2 (which also exhibits horizontal streaks, and is repeatable)

OK Alex - when I come up for air I will run valgrind and that should help identify the culprit.

Here is a screen capture of this issue. This particular version was not repeatable, hence I have not yet been able to create a before/after image set like Jeremy did in #2. Once I get that, I will post. I do believe that this issue and #2 are related but I'll wait until I can confirm this with a before/after image set that reliably exhibits the problem.
