For instance right now the toolbar is located at the bottom.

For me it'a bit inconvenient as usually I run device_preview on a computer and have spare space on the sides not on bottom or top of the screen. I would love to be able to have toolbar on the left or right.

It surely depends on the device you're running on, and you're right: on desktop, a side menu, always visible, would be better. I plan to add more customization to the toolbar styles directly as a menu, including the location on the screen.

Having the menu on the side would allow to add the labels describing each tool. Right now the icons are not always self-explanatory. Also, they are very very small on my screen.

The idea of only having icons is to show more, since those menu are normally used often. But anyway, I may add labels to all items since the bar is horizontally scrollable.

I will improve size of buttons a bit too !

Another small issue is that some of the tools lost their wide range of configuration options e.g. the text scale factor. Right now there are only 3 options with very little explanation. It used to have a slider to test various text scale factors from 0.5 up to 3.0. In my opinion it was much more useful than current design.

You're right, I'll add again a slider, but with steps to make it more simple to choose values though.

Also the menu (as it's in the middle of the toolbar) obscures the device preview.

It was the case before also on mobile. As a workaround, I will make windows draggable, and add a bit of transparency to the windows background.

I don't want to complain as the device_preview is one of the most useful dev tools out there. It helped me in many projects and I always recommend to use it. Thanks @aloisdeniel for your fantastic work. Let me know if there's something that I could help with.
