Memory Card game is the second project of the Udacity Front-End Nanodegree. Main focus is JavaScript & The DOM manipulation. We are provided with some HTML and CSS styling to display a static version of the Memory Game project and have to convert this project from a static project to an interactive one. This required modifying the HTML and CSS files, but primarily the JavaScript file, as only the shuffle cards function is provided.
Memory Game, also known as Concentration, Match Match, Match Up, Pelmanism, Shinkei-suijaku, Pexeso or simply Pairs, is a card game in which all of the cards are laid face down on a surface and two cards are flipped face up over each turn. The object of the game is to turn over pairs of matching cards. Memory Game can be played with any number of players or as solitaire. It is a particularly good game for young children, though adults may find it challenging and stimulating as well. The scheme is often used in quiz shows and can be employed as an educational game.
- clone this repo or download and extract via zip
- open the folder
- right click index.html and choose a browser
- solid knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- one of great resources to learn basics of JavaScript is the Udacity "Intro to JavaScript", highly recommended
- to write code a text and development editor is required, I would recommend Sublime Text 3 as it is a proprietary cross-platform source code editor with a Python application programming interface (API) =>Sublime Text 3 homepage with download links and install instructions
- click on any card to start the game
- as soon as you select your first card pair the timer and move counter start
- if the cards match, they will remain open, if they don't match, they will flip over
- be sure to keep you mind sharp because the stars rating goes down with more cards you select
- when you finish matching all cards you receive a lucky charm
- reset button will start the game from scratch
