From my understanding alacritty should dynamically update the font size in px so that the characters retain the same physical size across different monitors by default.
This is incorrect. Both your monitors have the same scale factor so Alacritty should render at the same logical size for both of them, which might cause a different physical size if the monitors have the same resolution but different pixel densities.
What you want is to calculate the DPI for each monitor and set it appropriately. Two monitors with different pixel density should have different scale factors.
