Does MDNS discovery work reliably for your devices? I currently only have access to a Mi Air Purifier 2 which does not respond to the MDNS queries.

it's been perfectly reliable with my Xiaomi Mi Smart Socket Plug 2 devices. do you see anything that maybe related if you query dns-sd -B _services._dns-sd._udp? It should list out any devices with UDP published services over MDNS. That's how I found the _miio service name.

Thanks, after a power cycle my Air Purifier also responds to mDNS-queries.
As it's mDNS, I've added a bit to the readme about how to extract model information from the hostname of a device and will leave the actual discovery to be implemented outside this library.
