I'm sorry but I can't reconstruct this issue. I've tested with the latest DCE version in TYPO3 11 (with PHP 7.4).
I only get the selected content element.
Is it possible that you've got "Container" feature enabled for this DCE? Because there is an issue with that, which is also described in docs (in the Caution box): https://docs.typo3.org/p/t3/dce/main/en-us/UsersManual/DceContainer.html#enable-dce-container

Do you have a solution for the problem?
I'm using TYPO3 10 with PHP 7.4.

No, unfortunately not. I also think, this is not trivial to fix.
